Watch iOS3 wake screen during workout

does anyone else have a fix for this?

I Like to listen to music while running the workout app. But now watch iOS3 always wakes to the workout screen. Quite annoying when you want to skip or repeat a song. os2 used to let the workout run in the background and it would wake on the music app making it easy to change songs.

Any setting that I missed? I did try all the different settings in "wake screen" but keeps going back to workout screen when waking.

Hi

Under watchOS 3, it is normal for Apple Watch to return to the Workout app when the screen is woken from sleep during a workout.

Was afraid that was going to be the answer.

Incredibly inconvenient. Have you tried changing a song while running? Well it looks like I'm not going to use the workout app anymore while training as my music is my priority.

Start your workout first. Then press the side button and open the music app and start playback. You can switch back and forth between the two by double clicking the digital crown. On wrist raise the last app used will show.

Hi Buismac

i tried your suggestion but it doesnt work for me. It used to be like that on watch OS2

whether I start the music first or the workout first, whenever I raise my wrist during a workout to change a song it defaults to the workout timer.

i Choose not to use the workout anymore. Too difficult to change a song when running.

Yes sorry about that. When I tried it it seemed to work but then I went for a run and it's as you describe. Seems like a bug to me a I clearly does not open with the last app used on wrist raise. (When two apps run simultaneously the last app used to me is the last app I manually interfaced with).

Anyway, I still have one of those clip on iPods with buttons on it. Might use that one again.
